Rick N. Prothero, P.T.

Rick is a 1976 graduate from the department of Physical Therapy at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He worked in acute care settings before going into private practice in 1982. He established his present practice, Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy, in 2000. Rick’s special areas of interest include geriatrics, sports medicine, orthopedics and orthotic fabrication. He resides in Harford County with his wife and has two grown daughters. Rick is an accomplished sailor and sailing instructor.

William C. Smith, P.T.

Willie is a 1990 graduate of the Physical Therapy program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He worked in both the outpatient orthopedic and home health care fields before opening Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy in 2000. Willie’s areas of special interest are comprehensive rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee, and disorders of the cervical and lumbar spine. He resides in Harford County with his wife and their three children. Willie enjoys playing soccer and attending his children’s sporting events.

Anthony Malek, MPT, CLT

Tony is a 1999 graduate of the Physical Therapy program at Temple University. He worked in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation before joining Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy in 2006. Tony's special areas of interest are the foot and ankle, gait and balance assessment, and lymphedema management. Tony and his wife Trish live in Harford County with their two sons. Tony is an avid runner and cyclist.

Raymond Cooper, OTR, CLT

Ray is a 1988 graduate of the Occupational Therapy program at Towson University and a 2000 graduate of the MBA program at Loyola College. He worked in both acute care and outpatient rehabilitation before joining Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy in 2006. Ray's areas of special interest are lymphedema management, hand therapy, and custom splint fabrication. He resides in Harford County with his wife Kim and their two children. Ray is retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and enjoys sports with his children.

ASSOCIATES

Laura Morris, PTA

Laura is a 1994 graduate of the Carroll College Physical Therapist Assistant program. She worked for three years at Prothero & Smid Physical Therapy and for two years in home care/nursing home facilities before joining Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy when it started in 2000. Her interests include orthopedics and geriatrics.

Kelly Fulp , P.T.

Kelly graduated from the physical therapy program at the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1992. She initially worked as a staff physical therapist at the HealthSouth Spine Center in Baltimore, with a focus on orthopedic spinal injuries and disorders. In 1996, she moved to Ohio, working at the Franciscan Medical Center in Dayton with the general outpatient orthopedic and neurologic patient population. She returned to her native Harford County in 1997 and continued to work at a number of outpatient physical therapy practices throughout the county. In 2007, she joined the staff of Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy.

Chrissy

Chrissy began working for Smith & Prothero in 2008. That same year, she attended Harford Community College, where she completed her certificate as a Medical Office Assistant and became a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS). Chrissy enjoys traveling with her husband Mike. Their favorite vacation spot is Puerto Rico.

Crystal

Crystal has an A.A. in Business from Harford Community College. As an office assistant in the Bel Air office of Smith & Prothero, she can handle your scheduling and any questions you may have. She has been a Harford County resident for 30 years and lives in Bel Air with her husband and son.

Janet

Janet is recently retired from The Johns Hopkins University and began her second career with Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy in a part-time capacity as a front desk receptionist and transcriptionist in 2009. A Harford County resident, Janet and her husband Mike have two children and two grandchildren.

Angie

Angie is a graduate of North East High School. She started her career in the medical field working for an insurance company in 1989 and moved into the medical office setting in 2003. Angie has worked for Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy since April 2010 and is available to assist with any questions. She enjoys spending time with her family.

Stephanie

Stephanie is a 2009 graduate of Harford Community College. She worked in the administrative field in child care and education for three years before joining Smith & Prothero Physical Therapy following her graduation. Stephanie can help with scheduling and insurance questions. She lives with her husband in Cecil County and is active in their local church.

Luann

Luann is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park. She has worked in a medical office setting since 1985. Luann joined Smith & Prothero when it opened in 2000, initially as an assistant office manager before becoming office manager in 2006. Luann is available to answer insurance and billing questions.
