Occupational Therapy/Lymphedema Treatment

​Occupational Therapy is the art and science of human occupation. Occupation refers to the activities people perform throughout the day. When disabilities impact a person's ability to perform such activities, occupational therapists help people regain normal functional capabilities.

Chesapeake Lymphedema Center

Lymphedema is an abnormal accumulation of high protein fluid that is unable to be transported from the extremities, head, abdomen or other parts of the body. The accumulation, which causes swelling, may lead to discomfort, infections, disfigurement, or disability.

We offer the following services to treat lymphedema:

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage

  • Bandaging

  • Therapeutic Exercise

  • Skin Care

  • Scar Management

  • Stress Management

  • Nutrition

  • Compression Garments

  • Home Maintenance Programs

We also offer a highly specialized treatment program for post-breast cancer patients.
